Tribute to Mrs. John D. Ure
I have not just lost my mom but a dear friend who was always there for me or anyone else in need. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Johnny who also died at Truman Lake. Dad died 7 years ago in the home where they lived for 18 years. After retiring from Macy's after 33 years dad was not sure if they would be happy living at the lake full time. They decided not to sell their home in the city for one year, but mom had been coming to Uncle Walt and Aunt Martha's cabin since she was a little girl. This is where she wanted to live. As you all remember Dad usually just went along UNTIL he had had enough, then you were aware. Uncle Walt built the cabin in 1933 when he was about 17 years old.

Her third child Tom died tragically by drowning in a boating accident May 1, 2011. I know she never got over this event. Afterall children are not supposed to die before their parents.
She had all of her brothers and sisters die before her and this really bothered her. She loved them all so much. She loved to go over to mommas house on Sundays so we could eat some of grandmas fried chicken. Her siblings in order were Aunt Erma, Aunt Juanita, Uncle Orlin, Aunt Martha, Uncle Ferrill, Aunt Geraldine, Uncle Edwin, and her closest brother age wise was Uncle Eugene.
